Ta Ntchr, the Land of Divinity

During the next year and a half, I traveled as a Medjay with my unit of Medjay medju to the mountains of the moon at Mount Choke and Lake Tana, the source of the western Hapy Eteru (Blue Nile). The Abbai portion of the Blue Nile rises at Lake Tana and flows for nineteen miles (thirty kilometers) before plunging over the Tis Issat Falls, “smoking water” in Amharic. The river then loops across northwest Kash (Ethiopia) through a series of deep valleys and canyons into Meroe. There, it is known only as the Blue Nile, Hapy Eteru.
